Privacy Policy

Your photos and videos never leave your device

Gallery Cleaner reads your photos and videos only to find identical copies, look-alike photos, large videos, old screenshots and WhatsApp media. Reading, comparing and grouping are performed 100% locally on your phone. The app does not upload, transmit, or store your photos, videos, file names or folders on any server. We never see them. There is no account, no sign-in and no cloud storage.

Nothing is deleted without your confirmation

The app never deletes a file on its own. You see a thumbnail of every file first and choose what goes. Every deletion is then handed to Android, which shows you its own confirmation screen listing the files. If you tap Deny, nothing is deleted. There is no other way for the app to delete anything.

Data we collect

The app itself collects no personal information. It never sends your photos, videos, file names or folder names anywhere. Two Google services are built in:

• Firebase Analytics records anonymous usage events — for example, how many files a scan found, whether a deletion was confirmed, or whether a purchase went through — together with a device model and country. It uses an app-instance identifier and, where your device allows it, the Advertising ID. These events never include your photos, your file names or where your files are stored.
• Firebase Crashlytics records crash reports containing device model, operating system version and a technical stack trace, so faults can be fixed. These never include your photos or file names.

• How Google uses data from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
• You can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device settings.

Advertising

The current version of the app shows no ads. If ads are added in a future version, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and you will be asked for consent where the law requires it.

Permissions we use

• Photos and videos — to scan your gallery as described above. On Android 14 and later you can allow access to selected photos only; the app then scans just those and tells you so on screen. It does not request the "All files access" permission.
• Notifications — an optional reminder a week after your last scan. It is scheduled on the device, needs no server, and never contains a file name.
• INTERNET — used only for anonymous analytics, crash reporting and Google Play purchases. It is not used to upload your files; scanning and cleaning work with no network at all.

Purchases

The full scan and unlimited deleting of identical copies, large videos, old screenshots and WhatsApp media are free. A one-time purchase unlocks reviewing look-alike photo groups. It is not a subscription. Payments are processed by Google Play Billing — we never receive or store your payment details. The app records only, on your own device, whether the purchase is active.

Children

The app is a general-purpose utility, is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because the app stores no personal data on our side, there is nothing of yours for us to export or delete. The app keeps its scan results on your phone only, and uninstalling it removes them. To opt out of anonymous analytics and crash reporting, uninstall the app or disable usage & diagnostics data sharing in your Android settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
