How to resize an image to 1080x1920

    1

    Add your image

Drag and drop a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or SVG straight onto the page. Files stay on your device and are processed 100% client-side, so nothing is uploaded.

    2

    Pick the 1080x1920 preset

Choose the Instagram Story / Reel preset, or type 1080 x 1920 manually. Set the mode to Crop-to-fit to fill the full 9:16 frame, Fit-inside to keep the whole image with a background fill, or Stretch to force the exact dimensions.

    3

    Export or batch download

Output as JPG, PNG, or WebP. Resize one image, or drop a whole set and grab everything at once with Download-All-as-ZIP.

Why 1080 x 1920 is the right size for Stories and Reels

1080 x 1920 px is the native full-screen canvas for Instagram Stories and Reels. It is a 9:16 vertical aspect ratio (1080:1920 reduces to 9:16), the tallest format Instagram displays edge to edge. Matching it exactly means Instagram shows your image without re-compressing or letterboxing it, so text stays crisp and your composition fills the whole screen instead of sitting in a smaller cropped box.

For photos and screenshots that are not already 9:16, Crop-to-fit gives the most native look by filling the frame, though it trims the long edges, so keep faces and key text away from the extreme top and bottom where the profile bar and caption sit. When you cannot lose any part of the image, switch to Fit-inside and add a background fill to pad it out to 1080 x 1920 without cropping. Reserve Stretch for assets already close to 9:16, since it distorts anything with a different ratio. See the official Instagram Help Center for current display behavior.

    Frequently asked questions

What size is an Instagram Story or Reel?

The recommended size is 1080 x 1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical aspect ratio. This is the full-screen format Instagram uses for both Stories and Reels, so the same 1080x1920 image works for either.

    What aspect ratio is 1080x1920?

1080x1920 is a 9:16 aspect ratio. Dividing both numbers by 120 gives 9:16, the standard tall, vertical, full-screen ratio for mobile-first content like Stories and Reels.

How do I resize an image to 1080x1920 without cropping it?

Choose Fit-inside mode instead of Crop-to-fit. It scales the entire image to fit within 1080 x 1920 and pads the leftover space with a background fill color you choose, so nothing is cut off. Crop-to-fit, by contrast, fills the whole frame but trims the edges.

Will resizing here add a watermark or upload my photos?

No. The tool is 100% client-side, so your images never leave your browser, there is no upload, no watermark, and no sign-up. It is free to use for single images and batches alike.

Can I resize several Story images at once?

Yes. Drop multiple files, apply the 1080x1920 preset to all of them, then use Download-All-as-ZIP to get the whole batch in one file. You can export the batch as JPG, PNG, or WebP.
