What is in the model

The count is higher than the "more than 600 muscles" you usually read, because muscles with two or more heads, such as biceps brachii, are split into their heads, and tendons and tendon sheaths are separate parts.

Muscles of head

44 parts

For example: Lateral rectus muscle Musculus rectus lateralis bulbi oculi, Superior oblique muscle Musculus obliquus superior bulbi oculi, Common tendinous ring Anulus tendineus communis

Facial muscles

34 parts

For example: Nasalis muscle Musculus nasalis, Orbital part of orbicularis oculi Pars orbitalis musculi orbicularis oculi, Palpebral part of orbicularis oculi Pars palpebralis musculi orbicularis oculi

Muscles of neck

38 parts

For example: Sternocleidomastoid muscle Musculus sternocleidomastoideus, Intermediate tendon of digastric muscle Tendo intermedius musculi digastrici, Anterior belly of digastric muscle Venter anterior musculi digastrici

Posterior compartment of forearm

26 parts

For example: Extensor digitorum Musculus extensor digitorum, Ulnar head of extensor carpi ulnaris Caput ulnare musculi extensoris carpi ulnaris, Humeral head of extensor carpi ulnaris Caput humerale musculi extensoris carpi ulnaris

Muscles of hand

24 parts

For example: Superficial head of flexor pollicis brevis Caput superficiale musculi flexoris pollicis brevis, Deep head of flexor pollicis brevis Caput profundum musculi flexoris pollicis brevis, Oblique head of adductor pollicis Caput obliquum musculi adductoris pollicis

Erector spinae

18 parts

For example: Iliocostalis lumborum muscle Musculus iliocostalis lumborum, Iliocostalis thoracis muscle Musculus iliocostalis thoracis, Iliocostalis colli muscle Musculus iliocostalis colli

How to study it here

  1. 1

    Peel the layers

Learn a superficial muscle, then press Hide on its card to reach the muscle under it.

  2. 2

See one muscle on the bones

Switch Skeleton on, Isolate a muscle, then turn on X-ray: the rest of the body turns to glass around it.

  3. 3

    Quiz yourself

Quiz asks for muscles by name. A wrong tap tells you which muscle you picked.
